Burberry became known to an audience of millions through his trench coat. To this day the company is still synonymous with the classic British raincoat. The development of the trench coat was based on an order from the British military administration. During the First World War, the Burberry trench coat enjoyed great popularity among British officers. In the 1930s Burberry expanded its American business and inevitably found its way to Hollywood.
