Furla, the Italian fashion manufacturer, is a symbol of stylish, elegant and graceful bags, shoes and accessories for men and women. The foundation stone of the company, which is still family-run today, was laid by Aldo Furlanetto when he began selling fashionable women's accessories through wholesalers in 1927. In 1955 the first shop for leather goods followed in Bologna. Because the shop was well received and had a growing clientele, the sons and daughter Giovanna decided to launch and sell their own collections under the label. That was in the 1970s. Furla looks back on a long history. When Aldo Fulanetto and his wife Margherita opened their first store in Bologna, Italy, in the post-war period with the aim of providing women with high-quality leather goods and accessories, they certainly did not foresee that their later label would one day achieve world fame. After the shop was in great demand regionally and had grown accordingly, the three children Giovanna, Carlo and Paolo Furlanetto took over the management and brought the first own collection of Furla bags on the market. The style was ahead of its time right from the start and, thanks to the unusual materials such as nylon and rubber as well as the unusual designs, it soon enjoyed success. Modern, independent and self-confident - Furla quickly aligned itself with the needs of the female target group and focused on the combination of high quality, aesthetics, clean lines and functionality paired with comparatively low prices in the luxury segment.
In the early 1990s Furla expanded with the help of a sophisticated expansion strategy. The first stores opened in Rome, Paris and New York and were the first stores in a sales network. This was followed by a major milestone when Paolo brought the Asian market on board. Today Japan is one of the strongest markets for Furla. Furla offers its collections in around 344 of its own shops, numerous sales outlets, flag stores in Rome, London, Hong Kong and Beijing as well as in its online shop.
