Winter, snow, slopes, skiing - that's what most people associate with the Bogner brand. Founded in the 1930s as a winter sports brand, Bogner is nowadays much more than just a sports label. The Bogner brand is the embodiment of an attitude to life that is fed by sporty elegance and luxurious quality. Whoever wants to combine elegant fashion with sporty elements will inevitably end up with the Bogner brand. The Bogner brand world includes not only ready-to-wear and sportswear, but also leather goods, sports equipment, accessories, fragrances and care products. For many decades, the Bogner brand has been one of the few German fashion labels that has achieved international recognition. Critics, who describe the fashion label as old and dusty, are regularly proven wrong by Bogner's trendy and young collections.
The fashion company Bogner goes back to the top winter sportsman Willy Bogner sr., who founded an import business for skis, accessories and knitwear from Norway in Munich in 1932. This laid the foundation for the outdoor sports character of the fashion label. In the years that followed, Bogner managed to expand its business so quickly that it was able to supply the German team at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen as well as helpers in the Olympic Village of the Summer Games in Berlin in the same year with Bogner fashion. By the way, Bogner was the outfitter of the German Olympic team at all Winter Games until 2014. After Bogner's production facility was bombed out during World War II, the fashion house moved into the former building of a sauerkraut factory in Berg am Laim in 1950, where the company is still based today. The first fashion show was held in 1948 in the traditional Munich Hofbräuhaus. In the post-war years, the company made a name for itself with sporty winter clothing in the upper price segment. Special trademarks of the Munich label were a pair of wedge trousers made of modern materials and a zipper tag in the shape of the letter "B".
After the death of the company founder Willy Bogner sr., his son of the same name took over the management of the company in 1977. Like his father, Willy Bogner jr. was also a successful alpine winter sportsman. Willy jr. expanded Bogner's business areas to cross-country skiing, tennis and golf fashion. He also granted licenses for the distribution of eyewear and perfumes. In 1989, Willy scored a real PR coup with the action film "Feuer und Eis" (Fire and Ice), which he shot and which served to place Bogner ski fashion on the market. From 2000 onwards, Bogner had other products, such as shoes and men's shirts, manufactured under licence. In addition, in 2004 Bogner Ski launched its own collection of skis and ski equipment.
